How Important Is Laser Hair Removal Experience & Education ?

Like other anatomical areas, removal of arm hair using laser treatments are dependent on such factors as hair color, skin color, hair strand thickness and density. These factors will be evaluated by a professional laser hair removal specialist to help select the most appropriate laser light system for each patient. Laser Hair Removal is Highly Effective

Although other forms of hair removal–such as electrolysis, depilatory creams or waxing–can be used, each has its own limitations as to effectiveness and ease of use. In three to six treatments, laser hair removal may accomplish a permanent reduction in the majority of hair on the body. The procedure is very rapid and well tolerated. Even the hair that remains is many times reduced in diameter, making them significantly less of a cosmetic issue while also reducing the irritation of the hair follicle. Laser Hair Removal Treatments

There is little to no pain when removing hair from the arms using the Candela Laser and varies from person to person depending on their sensitivity. Some have described the sensation of laser hair removal to a slight sting on the skin. Others say it feels like a mild pinch on the skin. The number of laser treatments neccessary to permanently remove unwanted hair varies depending on the size of the area to be treated. At least 2 or 3 treatments are necessary for the complete removal of unwanted hair because hair is cyclic and while some hair is in the active growth stage and can be treated, other hairs are in the resting phase and must cycle back to the growth stage before the laser will be effective. Depending on the amount of active hair follicles at the time of treatment determines the number of treatments neccessary to treat all of the hair. White skin with dark hair responds best. Persons with dark, coarse hair are the easiest to treat as dark hair contains melanin, a dark pigment which attracts the laser light so more laser energy is absorbed. Therefore fewer sessions are needed. Light colored hair is more difficult to treat and blonde and red hair are very difficult to treat requiring multiple sessions with varied results. A special laser called the YAG Laser is used to remove unwanted hair on persons who have both dark hair and dark skin.

You should be aware many of the spas and dermatologists in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Palm Harbor, New Port Richey and other communities in the Tampa Bay area offer laser hair removal as a service but require you to purchase a package deal or hold you under contracts to return for other services you may not need or be interested in. This is generally the rule of thumb for these types of institutions but it is not necessary. I do not, nor will I ever, require my clients to purchase contract services or pressure sale them on services they do not need or want.
