How does laser tattoo removal work?

The use of lasers to remove tattoos goes back now over 2 decades , with the technology becoming more advance and “patient-friendly” over time. Treatment works by pulsing an extremely short duration beam of laser light o nthe skin that contains the tattoo ink. The ink, due to its color, absorbs more of the light energy than the surrounding, untattooed skin. The absorbed light energy converted to heat by the pigment, causing the pigment to rapidly expand. Ink then immediately cools as the laser light pulse ends. This expansion/contraction process causes fragmentation of the ink, and is analogous to the cracking that occurs in the road pavement in the springtime. The resulting tiny ink fragments are then removed from the skin by the cells of your body’s immune system.
